Taylor Swift, in full Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13 1989 West Reading Pennsylvania U.S.) American pop and country musician and singer whose tales of heartbreak in the early years achieved wide success in the early 21st century. Swift discovered a love for music in her early years and soon progressed from performing in kids' shows, to making her debut in public. Swift was eleven years old when she sang The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match. In the following year, she began writing songs and got a guitar. Swift composed original music that was inspired by country musicians such as Shania Twain (now known as the Chicks) and Dixie Chicks. Her material expressed Swift's feelings about tweens and the feeling of alienation. At the age of 13, Swift's parents sold their farm in Pennsylvania to move towards Hendersonville Tennessee so she could devote more of her time in courting the country music labels within the vicinity of Nashville.
